Today we’ll be looking at a few of the crafting machines that will be in Reel Life. Machines differ from benches in that they will craft on their own while you’re out and about in the world of Reel Life.

First up is the composter – the machine you’ll need to use if you want to make fertilizer yourself!

To make fertilizer, all you need to do is gather up all of the spoiled food and garbage in your inventory and deposit it into the composter’s inventory box. Click the ‘on’ button and away we go! In 5 days you’ll have a brand new batch of fertilizer.

You’ll need at least 10 spoiled food or garbage for one bag of fertilizer, so make sure you don’t throw that precious refuse away!

Next up is the Mash’n’Heater, a very important machine if you’re going to be doing a lot of cooking and baking.

Like the composter, you’ll place ingredients in the inventory box for the recipe that you want to craft. To view all of the recipes available to you on each machine, click on the recipe button in the top left of the machine’s GUI.

Here we can see all of the recipes available to us! We can craft flour, cooking oil, jams, juices, and nut butters! When you’ve found the recipe you want to use, make use of the ingredients involved and then deposit them into the inventory box.

Next, depending on the recipe, you may need to turn the heat function on or off. If you’re not sure whether you need to, check the output section of the machine’s GUI. If the output shows up like you want – jam, juice, etc. – you don’t need to do anything – you’re ready to go! If an unexpected output shows up or nothing at all, try click on the heat button and the expected output should show up.

Moving on, let’s take a look at oak barrels. There are three sizes of oak barrels available for purchase and crafting: regular, large, and giant.

Each barrel will hold more inventory for processing than the last, saving you time if you want to craft large batches in one go.

Oak barrels are used for fermentation. Pickle eggs, herring, asparagus, or sauerkraut; or try your hand at brewing! Mead, beer, wine, liqueurs, cider, rum, whiskey, and more! If you’re an aspiring home chef, oak barrels can also be used to produce yeast, vinegar, and fish sauce. Just check the recipes to see what you need and how long fermentation will take.

Now let’s talk automation. Like we said, machines go to work crafting without your input, but they won’t craft continuously on their own. Once a product has been rendered, you’ll need to remove the output and place more inputs if you want to keep processing.

Enter the auto feeder and auto keeper! Place the refrigerated auto feeder to the left of any machine to automatically feed inputs into that machine. You’ll still need to manually remove the output before it can get to work, though.

That’s where the auto keeper comes into play. Place the refrigerated auto keeper to the right of any machine to have output instantly collected when finished processing! It’s easy to become a jam or jerky mogul with these two assistant machines in play.

Lastly, we’re going to look at the most exciting machine to be added in our crafting update: the tokenizer.

Use this machine to create crop tokens! That means that you can finally grow those increased crop grades and rare crops that you win from time to time. Also use this machine to convert select forage into growable crops. If the forage has a grade (B, A, S) it can be converted into a graded token.

That’s it for today’s Reel Life insight and we hope to see you again next week when we go over the rest of the machines that will be in the game!
